Sometimes, we are misunderstood in what we mean when we say “we want to empower women.”
Here some very good thoughts are voiced as to what it means, when I say it.
Women are empowered when they can use their gifts for the greater good in God’s world. We need women and their gifts in all segments of life – science, education, politics, at home and in the church. We need them to work together in partnership with men who understand Jesus’ concept of leadership as explained for instance in Mark 10:35-45. The kind of leadership that Jesus modelled is NOT that top down domineering kind, but the nurturing co-operating care for the other and service.
